Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has been personally inspecting the city during the early morning hours.

For the past two days, the Adviser has been touring various areas at dawn to monitor law enforcement activities.

This effort is part of a broader plan to ensure that the capital remains safe and secure, even during quieter hours.

During his inspections, Jahangir Alam took decisive action, suspending two police officers—an SI and a constable—from Gulshan police station for negligence.

This suspension, which took place on Wednesday, was a direct result of the officers failing to perform their duties responsibly.

The Adviser shared this news with reporters on Thursday morning while continuing his patrol.

"Law enforcement officers often show laxity during the early hours of the morning. Criminals and offenders take advantage of this to commit various crimes," Jahangir Alam explained to the media.

He added that he has instructed the police to remain alert and vigilant at all times, especially during these hours when crime tends to rise.

The Home Affairs Adviser stressed that it’s crucial for citizens to feel safe while they sleep and move about the city.

To ensure this, the Ministry has deployed its own officers to monitor the law and order situation alongside the police.

Additionally, the number of security personnel and patrols in key areas of the city has been increased.

"Those responsible for disturbing the law and order will be brought to justice," the Adviser declared.

On Thursday morning, the Adviser set out from his Baridhara DOHS residence and visited several key points across the city, including ECB Square, Kalshi, Pallabi, and Mirpur-10, before arriving at Mirpur police station.

He inspected several police stations during his patrol, including Darussalam, Adabor, and Mohammadpur.

At each location, he spoke with duty officers, checked the detention cells and other facilities, and provided instructions to ensure the stations were running smoothly.

Jahangir Alam didn’t stop there—he also inspected two prominent checkpoints: Zillur Rahman Flyover and Kalshi Intersection.

He spoke with the officers stationed at these posts and made sure they were fulfilling their duties effectively.

On his way back, he interacted with locals in areas like Mirpur and Technical Intersection, gathering their opinions on the security situation in Dhaka and listening to their concerns.

When asked by journalists about the ongoing joint operations in the city, the Adviser replied that these will continue until there’s a significant improvement in the security situation.

However, he assured those other routine operations would not be affected.

The Adviser‍‍`s dedication to ensuring the safety of the city’s residents was also evident the previous day when he conducted a similar dawn inspection on Wednesday.

On that occasion, he visited the Gulshan police station and several other areas, further reinforcing his commitment to improving Dhaka‍‍`s security infrastructure.

By actively monitoring the situation and holding officers accountable for negligence, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jahangir Alam’s initiative reflects the importance of maintaining constant vigilance in safeguarding the capital.
